I played another early morning round of nine holes on my western NY journey on September 9, 2024. I played at Sycamore Golf Club near Victor, NY. This course checked off Wayne county for me. The course has existed for decades and has several different names. Sycamore is under new ownership, and several upgrades are underway. The highly visual change in new clubhouse and banquet area. On the golf course, replacing the sprinkling system was a less visible but important upgrade. The 18 hole layout is mostly flat with mature trees. Fairways are wide and open, but there are several large trees that become obstacles for wayward shots. The greens are large and very well maintained. There are several dogleg holes around mature trees and a few water hazards. The hospitality of the staff was excellent, and I enjoyed talking golf with some of the early-morning regulars. Sycamore is a fun and welcoming place to play.
