This is not to be confused with other courses of similar names I played this year, Sliver Creek in Waterloo and the Silver Lakes courses in Alabama. Wyoming County is prime agricultural land, with most of the county devoted to farmland. There are only a few courses, and I discovered a gem of a course in The Club at Silver Lake. It is situated between the scenic Silver Lake and nearby farms. The course is a short course par 70, 5541 yards from White tees. It includes some long par threes and some lengthy par fives. One of the interesting par fives has the two creeks crossing the fairway, which always contributes to an interesting challenge.

This sculpture of a lake monster lines the first hole. The greens are well-maintained, are a good size, and slope off at the edges, so it’s important to make accurate shots to the greens. Many of the fairways are narrow, and lined with mature trees, which frame the fairways and greens nicely.

The morning I played was a cool fall morning with heavy dew on the course. It reminded me of many years of playing early morning on golf courses in the dew, watching your ball track across the wet greens. This quiet morning, I had the course to myself, enjoying the solitude, serene nature and practicing my game.

On September 14, 2023, I played the Club at Silver Lake Golf Course in Wyoming county, New York.
