North Country University Gem

On May 21, 2024, I added to my New York State bucket list by playing golf in St. Lawrence County, the furthest north of my golfing experiences. Located in Canton, NY, and adjoining the campus of St. Lawrence University, Oliver D Appleton Golf Course was established in 1926 with nine holes, later expanded to its current 18-hole layout. The course is a par-72 layout that covers 6,698 yards from the championship tees, 6,207 from the Browns, 5,747 from the Whites, and 5,030 yards from the tan/forward tees. The course is located right next to the University, yet most holes are lined with mature trees. The course was in excellent condition, with tees. The fairways and greens are fairly level, so there are no significant changes in elevation. It is a beautiful, well-maintained golf course.
