There are many excellent golf courses in Saratoga County. On August 21, 2024, I had the opportunity to play at Ballston Spa Country Club. Over the years. I’ve heard many positive comments about this course and finally enjoyed the opportunity to finally see it in person. The course has a rich history, built in 1925 just outside of the village of Ballston spa.
The course has many changes in elevation and a creek that flows through the course impacting several holes. There are numerous sand traps protecting the greesn; the course is framed by trees and has many mature trees as obstacles around many of the courses. The greens are country club fast and it certainly helps to know the layout of the greens to plan an appropriate position to have a chance for par or birdie. The course is very well maintained. Of course, it was a challenge for me, but I had several good holes and enjoyed the setting of a challenging golf course. The course is very well maintained. The club is planning significant improvements with the replacement of the clubhouse, which has a beautiful view across the 18th Green and the entire course. If you have an opportunity to join a member of the club, you will enjoy playing Ballston Spa.
